Week Five, Day Four
The Reality of Eternity
I Peter 2:9

One thing that we often forget about time is that we need to think about more than just minutes, days, or even years.  We need to think about ETERNITY.  The fact is that every person on this earth will live forever in eternity in one of two places.  One of them is wonderful.  The terrible alternative is seldom discussed, but real and dreadful all the same.

God tells us that Hell is a place far away from Him, and that it is a lonely, painful, sad, and terrible place to spend even one second much less forever!  Many have asked, in fact, how a loving God could send people there.  We must always remember that a person chooses hell by denying Godıs invitation to heaven.

We must never forget that ³God has set eternity in the hearts of men²(Ecclesiastes 3:11), and there is a longing in every heart for heaven.  One of Satanıs greatest strategies is to minimize the beauty of the place.  As Randy Alcorn wrote in his book In Light of Eternity, ³After being forcefully evicted from heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15), the devil is bitter not only toward God, but toward us and the place thatıs no longer his.  (It must be maddening to Satan to realize weıre now entitled to the home he was kicked out of.)  What better way for demons to attack than to whisper lies about the very place God tells us to set our hearts and minds on? (Colossians 3:1-2)²

As different as they may be, both heaven and hell are as real as where you are sitting right now.  Live today as if you are investing for the next million years.
