Week Four, Day Two
Winning over Worry
Mark 6:35-51

It has been said that worry is interest on a debt that you may not owe.  But letıs face it with some of the monstrous obstacles in our path, our worries can seem extremely justified!

Remember when Jesus crossed over the Sea of Galilee and the violent storm arose while He was asleep?  When they awoke Him in their terror, He rebuked them for their lack of faith!  How could He have been so disappointed with His followers when their very lives seemed to be in danger?  The reason He was so disappointed in their worrying was not because of their circumstances, but because of HIS PROMISE!  Just a few moments before they left for the open water, Jesus had said, ³Let us cross over to the other side.²  Jesus had already promised to get them across, and there was NO reason to that He would not keep His promise!

The Word of God gives us three key elements that can eliminate the worry in our lives:

  1. Promise:  Just as Jesus reminded the disciples in todayıs passage, we must remember the promises of God in our lives.  We have already won the victory over Satan, and we ought to live our lives as Godıs champions!

  2. Perspective:  Rising above our day-to-day challenges can make all the difference in the world.  We must remember that most of our everyday problems will be insignificant as we look back in years to come.

  3. Preparation:  Remember: proper preparation prevents a plethora of perspiration!  When we take the time for adequate planning and timely work habits, much of the worry in our lives can be prevented from happening.
