Many brothers and sisters in Christ have mistakenly thought that the power of God was meant to be a sort of ³Aladdinıs Lamp² for the believer at our beck and call for our every whim. This flippant attitude is not only unbiblical; it is idolatry in that it takes our eyes off of God and on to the gifts He bestows.
Psalm 37:4 states that you should ³Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.² If we are truly delighted in the Lord, the desire of our hearts will ultimately be for God Himself, and that is the greatest gift He could give His presence in our lives! In doing so, God also offers all of His resources for His work. What a contrast with the ³name it, claim it² mentality so prevalent today, and what a refreshing offer!
