Think of something that REALLY makes you ANGRY! Go ahead! Let it all out! Make an angry face, and grit your teeth.
Did you know that God gave you permission to get angry? He said it is sometimes okay to be angry. Still, we must be willing to control our anger and be willing to know when to let go of our anger. Many an unkind word spoken in the heat of anger has lingered long after the argument was over.
Ephesians 4:26 says not to let the sun go down on our anger. There is a very important principle there when you go to bed angry, how do you usually wake up? If you are like most of us, you sometimes wake up even angrier than when you went to sleep!
Here are three key steps to getting over your anger:
Remember what Jesus did for you. You are forgiven because of Christ alone, and you deserve eternity without God. Doesnıt that help you decide whether to forgive someone else?
Allow yourself a ³time out² before you react in your anger. Use that time to take a deep breath and ask for Godıs help.
Make the choice NOT to overreact in anger. The way that you respond when you are angry can have an impact on your life for years to come. Decide before you are angry to react with wisdom.
Application:
· Is there someone you are angry with whom you need to forgive?
· Ask God to help you release the anger that you feel in a healthy manner.
