The Power of the Tongue
Matthew 12:33-37
Without being too wordy, let's just agree that words are powerful!
They have the power to build up or destroy those around us. They play
a major role in how our lives will go. The Bible says that we grossly
underestimate the caliber of their strength.
- Words Impart they have the power to instruct, permit,
and uphold.
³You have my word on it!²
- Words Impact they have the power to change us and those
around us.
³You can do it!²
- Words Implore they have the power to alter the behavior
of the people we influence.
But most importantly,
- Words reveal who we really are! The words that come
out of our mouth especially those spoken in difficult situations are hard
evidence of what is buried deep in the recesses of our heart.
If our speech demonstrates our true beliefs, then the first
step to changing our speech is asking God to change our hearts!
Application:
- What evidence do your words give about what is buried in
your heart?
- Ask God to change your heart and control your words today.
